THE NATION’S FIRST LOBBYIST FOR NONTHEISTS TO SPEAK IN SEATTLE
Saturday, December 1, 2007, 7:00pm, at the University Unitarian Church, 6556 35th Ave., NE Seattle, Lori Lipman Brown, the Washington, DC lobbyist for the Secular Coalition for America (a non theistic coalition) will report on current issues in our nation’s capital and what we need to do to maintain our first amendment rights to separation of church and state.
Working with groups like Americans United for the Separation of Church and State, the Secular Coalition for America has been tackling church/state issues and bringing nontheistic Americans’ voices to the discussion. The good news is, working together has been a plus for everyone who cares about these issues. The bad news is, there is still much more fighting to do to protect our secular character of government. Brown will report on how the groups are working together, and bring updates on the church/state issues hitting the Hill. She’ll also discuss how the national media has reacted to the “atheist lobbyist.”

Lori Lipman Brown is a former Nevada State Senator, a lawyer and educator, who has been the director of Secular Coalition for America since September, 2005. She lobbies Congress on behalf of the interests of nontheistic Americans and their allies. Brown also appears on numerous radio, television and print media as well as in talks around the nation. Brown has been honored by a number of organizations.
